My chief memories of Colin relate to sports, mainly Cricket and Snooker. He liked both and liked to be involved in local events whenever they arose. A monthly games evening at a neighbour's house, where there is a snooker and table tennis table, would always attract Colin. He was particularly nifty with the snooker cue, often building breaks of 20 or more. In the late summer we would hold an inter-village cricket match at Oldbury-upon-Severn's ground. Colin would invariably be present, either playing, umpiring or scoring. At home he had an interesting collection of cricket books (e.g. Wisden Almanacs) and other memorabilia. After my daughter's wedding blessing in St. John's Church, Elberton in 2005, we played an 'Ashes' cricket match in Oldbury - Jennifer's husband is Australian - and Colin asked if he could come along to score. Of course! It was a good game and Colin certainly enjoyed being involved in a game he loved and understood.
